1820 he edited the Mountaineer.
On February 15, 1827, with Samuel Innes, he issued the first number of
the Pennsylvania Argus.
For 35 Years years served as justice of the peace, and from 1850 to
1851 as associated justice of the county courts, and was chief burgess
of Easton from 1830 to 1835 and again from 1852 to 1853. He was
on of the founders and first trustees of Lafayette College and as captain
of the Citizens' Volunteers attended the reception of Lafayette, in
1825 at Philadelphia.
