Stanley Weaver, Former LVRR Agent In Easton
Stanley K. Weaver, 90, of 706 W. Market St., Bethlehem, a
former Bethlehem councilman, died yesterday in St. Luke’s
Hospital, Fountain Hill.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Sara
Kline Weaver. He was graduated from Easton High School in
1898. he was employed as an assistant ticket agent in 1899
by the Lehigh Valley Railroad in Easton.
Mr. Weaver was a councilman before North and South Bethlehem
were consolidated. He was active in the consolidation of
Bethlehem and in the Hill-to-Hill bridge campaign.
He was secretary and president of the Lehigh County Prison
Board from 1946 until last December 31 when he retired.
He was a former member of the Bethlehem Planning Commission
30 years and of the zoning board of adjustment 28 years.
He was chairman of the zoning board from 1955 to 1964.
He was chairman of the finance committee and a member of
Bethlehem Borough Council from 1912 until it became a part
of the consolidated city. He served six months on city council.
Mr. Weaver was a director of the Chamber of Commerce in
Bethlehem and the South side Businessmen’s association.
He was a former mercantile appraiser of Lehigh County, a
former tipstaff of Lehigh County Court and a former director
of the Bethlehem Credit Men’s Association.
While the Lehigh Valley Railroad, he served as night ticket
agent in Allentown, , city ticket agent in Wilkes-Barre,
traveling passenger gent, Bethlehem Chief clerk to general
baggage, and division passenger agent in Bethlehem.
His resignation was not accepted by the railroad when he
retired in 1930 and he ws appointed special agent in a consulting
capacity until 1950.
Mr. Weaver was a charter member of the Bethlehem Rotary
Club when it was formed in 1916 and was a Grand Tall Cedar
of Lebanon, president of the Rajah Temple of Shriners, Exalted
Ruler of Bethlehem Lodge of Elks and master of Greenleaf
Lodge 561, Allentown.
He was an honorary director and former president of the
Lehigh Valley Fuel Dealers Association and a former director
of the former Bethlehem Trust Ban, Now the First Valley Bank.
He was a founder of the Bethlehem MORA Club and founder
and officer of the Calypso coal & supply Co.
He was a member of Holy trinity Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
His wife was the late Hannah Boofman Weaver.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Earl K. Prosser, Bethlehem;
two grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity
Church. Elks services will beheld at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and
Masonic services at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Samuel B. Snyder
Funeral Home, 527 Center St., Bethlehem. Interment will be
in Memorial park, Bethlehem.
