Robert L. Vanderbilt -- Navy veteran
Robert L. "Pappy" Vanderbilt, 80, of 5785 Bowersville Highway, Bowersville, Ga., died Wednesday, March 6, in Hart County Hospital. He was a paper finisher for Regal Paper Corporation and a radio and television technician.
Born in Finesville, N.J., he was a son of the late Howard and Mae Laubach Vanderbilt.
He was a member of the Methodist Church of Finesville. He served in the Navy. He was an avid hunter and a top archery marksman in New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle Poss; two sisters, Ruth Laubach and Marion; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Janice M. Emmons, died earlier.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Crossroads Baptist Church, 3636 Lavonia Highway, Hartwell, Ga. Call 3:30 p.m. Friday to time of service in the church and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Strickland Funeral Home, 395 Cleveland Ave., Hartwell. Burial will be in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. |
