R. S. Unangst, Express Classified Ad Manger
R. Stanley Unangst, 61, classified advertising manager of The Express for the past 10 years, died unexpectedly at his home, 2204 Park Ave., Palmer Township, at 2:35 a.m. today.

He was a graduate of Easton High School and Churchman Business College. He also had taken a number of Penn State University extension courses in office management.

Mr. Unangst began working at the Express 44 years ago when he joined the staff as an office boy in July 1933.

He became a salesman in the classified advertising department in 1937, holding that position, with an exception of a one-year period until he was named classified adverting manager in 1966.

In 1943, Mr. Unangst accepted a job as classified advertising manager of the Clarksburg, W. Va., Exponent and Telegram, but returned on year later to The Express.

Mr. Unangst was a member of the Association of Newspaper Classified Advertising managers (ANCAM) and for a number of years was chairman of many committees for the classified advertising conferences of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association.

Under his management, The Express won a number of award nationally and statewide for classified advertising programs including two first place honors.

Unangst was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, Easton. and it’s Churchman’s Fellowship; Easton Lodge 132, F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Rajah Temple of Shriners, Reading, and the Forks of the Delaware Schiner’s Club.

He was a director a of the Northampton County Association for the Blind.

He was married to the former Ruby Martin in 9138.

In addition to his widow, his is survived by an uncle, Elmer Kleckner, Easton, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Arrangements are being made by the Hutchison Funeral Home, Martin’s Creek.
