Walter V. Uhler
Walter V. Uhler, died in the Easton Hospital on Sunday morning at 10:30 o’clock. Last fall he was operated on for appendicitis and fully recovered. In January he suffered with blood poison from a scratch on the finger, from which he fully recovered. Two weeks ago he was again sent to the hospital, suffering with what looked like typhoid fever, but later developed into liver trouble, from which he died.
Mr. Uhler was born in Forks Township, January 9, 1892, and was a son of Madison V. and Catherine (Schmickle) Uhler , of Nazareth. For a time he resided at Wind Gap but for some years, up to the time of his death, his home was at Nazareth with his parents. For the last three years he worked as a toolmaker in the A. S. Cameron Steam Pump Works, Phillipsburg, N.J.
He was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Church as well as the Sunday school, of which he was a member of Vanderveer Lodge, O.O. O.F., and the Ingersoll-Sergeant Relief Association. He was a member of Company L. Fourth Regiment, National Guards, of Pennsylvania where he won a gold medal for expert markmenship.
Besides his father and mother he leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Russell, of Nazareth, Clayton Uhler, of Easton, Warren Uhler and Katharyn Uhler, of Nazareth. Warren is a twin brother and the resemblance was so close that they were many times taken for other. They were constant companions and idolized each other; Walter Uhler was a splendid type of Young manhood. Of fine physique, up to the time of his recent illness, in perfect health, with faultless habits, quiet disposition, industrious, kind and loyal, his untimely death is a distinct loss to the entire community, whose sympathy goes to the bereaved family, especially his mother and twin brother, who are heartbroken over their loss.
The funeral services will be held in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in forks Cemetery. |
