Frederick W. Tice dies
Leader in Amateur Theater Groups Stricken On job at Ingersoll-Rand;
Was 39
Frederick William Tice, 39, of 340 Cattell St., Easton, veteran
producer, stage manager and former chairman of the board of director
of Chansonnette theater Inc., Easton, was pronounced dead on arrival
at Warren Hospital at 2:50 p.m. yesterday after being stricken
at work.
Dr. N.C. Marlett, Warren County physician, listed a heart attack
as the cause of death.
Mr. Tice was employed as a supervisor in the Tabulating Department
of Ingersoll-Rand Co., Phillipsburg. He was employed by the company
for the last 20 years.
Mr. Tice was active for many years in the behind-the-scenes
production phases of amateur theater groups in Easton, both in
the role of stage manager and producer.
He was a member of the former Easton Players guild and produced
many of the guild's plays.
He was a charter member of Chansonnette Theater and belonged
to its forerunning organization, the Easton Express Glee Club.
He was producer for a number of musical shows for both organizations.
Some of the shows included, "The Mikado," "Pirates
of Penzance," "The Chocolate Soldier," "Bloomer
Girl," "Brigadoon," and "Song of Norway." He
also served as stage manager for a number of other Chansonnette
productions.
Mr. Tice was the first board chairman of chansonnette and served
in the capacity until last year. He also was the only male member
of Chansonnette who was twice elected to the honorary title of "king" of
the organization.
In addition to leading many activities of the Chansonnette organization.
Mr. Tice created lighting effects and scenery props for productions
by the Woman's Club of Easton.
He was born July 5, 1921, in Stier, the son of John F. and Grace
R. Bennett Tice. He resided at the Cattell Street address with
his parents since about 1924. He attended Easton public schools
and was graduated from Easton High School in 1940. He was a member
of the high school band.
Mr. Tice was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Easton,
and formerly served on the official board as deacon and elder.
He was a member of Easton Lodge 45, Loyal Order of Moose, the
young Republican Club of Easton and the Forks township Volunteer
Fire Co.
His parents are his only survivors.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bender Funeral
Home, Easton.
