William H. Snyder, Contractor Dies
William H. Snyder, a well known building contractor of this
city, died at 5:50 this morning at his home, North Delaware
drive and Eat Lafayette street, after an illness of 14 weeks.
Mr. Snyder was born in Lower Mt. Bethel Township and was a
son of the late John and Elizabeth Snyder. He learned the carpenter’s
trade with Frederick Snyder at Martin’s Creek and moved
to Easton 42 years ago. He had been in business for himself
since coming to this city.
As a builder of residences, Mr. Snyder acquired an enviable
reputation and through his honest and reliability, he prospered
in business. He built the original County Club of Northampton
County, the Children’s Home, Paxinosa Inn, the residence
of W. Evan Chipman, North Delaware River Drive, the residences
of Frank L Chipman on College Hill and near the Northampton
country Club, the residences of Judge E. J. Fox, Judge R. A.
Stotz, W. M. Michler, John S. Shipman and S.T. Wilson, College
Hill and the residence of Charles Chipman near the Northampt9on
Country Club.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edna A. Snyder,
and by one daughter, Miss Blanche Henry, wife of Guy Henry,
living at home, and by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gruver, of
Wilson. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation at Forks
Church and a member of South Easton Council, No. 590, Fraternal
Patriotic Americans and Black Knight Commandery, No. 109, Knights
of Malta, this city
