Nazareth Man Dead From Lockjaw
Charles Snyder, aged 40 years, a lineman, employed by the Slate Belt Telephone Company, died at four o’clock Friday afternoon at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, from tetanus or lockjaw, resulting from running a splinter in the fourth finger of his right hand.
Mr. Snyder, several weeks ago ran several splinters in his fingers while trying to catch a chicken. Some of these were removed, but apparently one of them remained. He continued to work, but the hand became more and more painful. Last Saturday he went to a physician, but his jaws had begun to get rigid by that time. On Monday, where everything possible was done for him, but it was impossible to save his life.
Mr. Snyder was a native of Nazareth, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Milton Snyder. He is survived by his wife, four children; Herman, Elwood, Carl and Anna, all at home, three sisters and a brother, Anna, Mary and Flora Snyder, all of Easton, and George Snyder of Nazareth. He was a member of the Vigilance Fire Company, of Nazareth.
Funeral services will be held at the home on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and interment will be made in St. John’s Cemetery, Nazareth
