Daniel Smull, well known among the railroad men of this locality
and for the past 30 years a brakeman on the Lehigh Valley railroad,
died suddenly this morning at the Valley station in this city.
He was in the 59th year of his age.
Mr. Smull started out this morning to spend the day fishing
at one of the lakes over in New Jersey. He was apparently in
good health yesterday, last night and this morning. He ate
a heartily at breakfast. It was between 5 and 5:30 when he
left his home, southwest corner of Seventh and Northampton
streets.
It was about 6 o'clock when Special Officer Garbarino had
occasion to enter the toilet room at the station. As he opened
the door Mr. Smull staggered forward from the room and fell
in his arms. The officer held him until he could take him to
a seat near by, but by the time Mr. Smull was dead. He died
of heart trouble.
The deceased was a native of South Easton. He is survived
by his wife and by six children. The latter are Charles E.
Smull, William D. Smull, Frank R. Smull, Harper G. Smull, Mrs.
William Roberts and Miss Annie L. Smull. He is also survived
by one sister, Mrs. Frank Edinger, of the South Side, Mr. Smull
was a member of Packer Lodge, Brotherhood of Railway trainmen.
His many friends will learn with surprise and sorrow of his
sudden demise. |
