Floyd D. Seifert, served on bank's board of directors
Floyd D. "Sam" Seifert, 78, of 6080 William Penn Highway, Bethlehem Township, died Friday in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was an executive vice president, treasurer and member of the board of directors of the First Valley Bank of Bethlehem, until retiring in 1969.
Born July 28, 1904, in Easton, he was a son of the late Howard and Mary Lehr Seifert.
In 1929, he joined the Bethlehem Trust Co., which later merged wit the First National Bank of Bethlehem, as a teller. In 1952, he was named cashier, in 1963 was named vice president, and was named executive vice president in 1967. He began his career in 1922 as a clerk at the Easton National Bank.
Mr. Seifert was a past president of the Bethlehem-Allentown Credit Bureau; a past president of the Northampton County Banker's Association, and a past president of the Citizen's Building and Loan Association of Bethlehem.
He was a member and former deacon of First United Church of Christ, Easton; a member of Lehigh Valley Club, Allentown, and the Saucon Valley Country Club.
A graduate of Churchman Business School, he attended the American Institute of Banking.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lillie Case, and a niece and nephew.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be in Greenwich Cemetery, Stewartsville. |
