Harry C. Remaly Dies; Was Church, Boy Scout Leader
Harry C. Remaly, 47, of 823 Berwick St., Easton, a leader
in church and Boy Scout Activities, died at 12:30 a.m. today
at Easton Hospital where he was admitted last night after
being stricken unexpectedly at his home.
Mr. Remaly was employed at Taylor-Wharton Iron & Steel
Co in Palmer Township for the last 21 years, and was superintendent
of the track shop at the time of his death.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Theodore and Jennie
McKee Remaly. He resided in Easton all his life.
He was amember of the consistory of St. Peter's Evangelical
and Reformed church, Easton, since 1926. He served as vice
president of the congregation for the last five years and
was an elder for the last nine years. He was also secretary
of the Citizen Hose Co.,a member of the Easton Lodge 152,
F & A. M. Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Easton order
of Fleas.
At his death Mr. Remaly was scout commissioner of the Delaware
Valley Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. He received the
Silver Beaver, highest honor an area council can bestow in
1938. His scouting activities include service as a district
commissioner form 1932 to 1936 and as a troop committeeman
for Troop 15 from 1950 to 1953. he was named council commissioner
March 1, 1953.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith Remaly, and a son,
Donald, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Wesley, Forks Township;
a brother Theodore of Wilson, and two grandchildren. A sister,
Mrs. Grace Morrison, of Easton, died before him.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Strunk
Funeral Home.
