William Paulus of Butztown Tells of Hidden Hoard Before Dying
Two Thousand Dollars Found
Relatives Make a Search and Find Gold and Bank Notes In a Box Hidden In an Old Shed. The savings of Years.
The late William Paulus, who died at the home in Bethlehem township, about three weeks ago, showed his eccentricity in his dying moments. It was known to his friends that Mr. Paulus was a man who had always taken prudent care of his money.
The Friends curiosity has aroused and he instituted a search for the interesting box. He found the much looked for box, hidden away in the corner under the rafters of the shop. Judge the surprise felt when the lid was opened only to reveal $2000 in money. The money was divided in bank notes, and gold and silver.
The saving so secreted was the result of years of denial on the part of Mr. Paulus. The secret of the box he felt must be revealed as his dying breath fleeted away, and it was.
