Charles F. Paules
Charles Franklin Paules, 62 years old, of 822 Linden Street, Bethlehem, general foreman of No. 6 machine Shop, Bethlehem Steel Company a skilled mechanic and inventor, died yesterday at his home, after an illness of nine weeks.
He was born in Bethlehem Township, between Hecktown and Brodheads, a son of the late Martin J. and Nettie Walter Paules. In 1896 he was confirmed as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nazareth.
At the age of 10 years he started work in the Kraemer Hosiery Mill, Nazaeth. Later he was employed in Allentown, bath and West Easton. In 1910 he entered the employ of the Bethlehem Steel Co. in No 6 machine shop and in 1916, was appointed as foreman. He was appointed general foreman in 1922. He had a number of patents to his credit. He was a member of the Bethlehem Steel Co. Band and belonged to the various Masonic bodies.
His first wife, Elizabeth August Hunt Paules, died in1923. Surviving are his second wife, Olive Rebecca Mitchel Paules, historian of the Paulus-Paules reunion, of which Mr. Paules was the vice-president, and a son, Harold Franklin Paules, of Bethlehem, metallographist of Bethlehem Steel Co.; three sisters, Mrs. Flora Ruth, Philadelphia; Mrs. Beulah Rothrock, Bethlehem, and Mrs. Helen Dereamer, Tatamy.
Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. at his late home. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. |
