P'burg Couple's Kin Killed in Car Crash
The daughter of a Phillipsburg couple, her husband and their
only son were killed early today in an accident on Interstate
78 near Hamburg, Pa.
Pronounced dead at the scene were Robert J. Lehr, 30, his
wife Linda, 28, and their son, Jeffrey Alan, 7.
Mrs. Lehr was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. parent,
93 Sitgreaves St., Phillipsburg. Her husband reportedly was
in the Air Force. Mrs. Lehr's address was given as Marlow Heights,
Md.
The accident happened about two miles west of Route 61, where
I-78 is being repaired. One lane of the highway is closed.
Both eastbound and westbound Traffic move in the single lane
left open
According to state police at Hamburg state, Mrs. Lehr apparently
fell asleep at the wheel and the eastbound car struck the shoulder
on the road and swerved into the path of a westbound tractor-trailer.
Police said the tractor-trailer, driven by James E. Smith,
37, Cincinnati, Ohio, Strunk the guardrail, rose in the air
and fell on the car. Smith reportedly suffered minor injuries.
