"Red" Odenwelder, 88, Ex-Baseball Umpire
Grover "Red" Odenwelder, 88, formerly of 1941 Spruce St.,
Wilson, died yesterday at Gracedale, where he was a guest for three
years.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Jacob and Sarah Edelman Odenwelder.
He retired in June 1954, after serving 29 years as custodian at Traill
Green School, Easton.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson.
He was a life member of the Weston Club, a member of the 7th Ward
Democratic Club, and a founder of the Sunshiners Club of Easton.
Odenwelder was a manager for many years of the Easton Old Timers and
a former baseball umpire, umpiring for many years at the 12th playground.
He was know to so many people as "Red" that for many years
he was listed by that name in the city telephone directory.
His wife, Beulah Andrews Odenwelder, is deceased.
Survivors include two sons, a daughter, a brother, Warren of Easton;
10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morello Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Easton Heights Cemetery.
