EASTON MAN DIES OF INJURY 2 WEEKS AFTER R.378 CRASH POLICE

An Easton man who was injured in a Dec. 13 accident at Route
378 and Saucon Valley Road died yesterday.
Lester Meixsell, 81, 135 S. 4th St., was pronounced dead at
6 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Lehigh County Coroner
Wayne Snyder said. An autopsy showed Meixsell died of complications
from injuries he received in the accident.
Meixsell and his wife, Pauline, were passengers in a vehicle
driven by Rubin Krout. Krout's wife, Joyce, also was a passenger.
Krout was driving west on Saucon Valley Road at 10:38 a.m.
When the vehicle crossed Route 378, it was struck by a northbound
vehicle driven by Jack Turner, 59, of Moorestown Drive, Bath.
The Krouts were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, where Turner
also was treated and released. The Meixsells were treated at
LVHC. Mrs. Meixsell later was discharged.
The Meixsells observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in August.
He was supervisor in the crayon department of Binney and Smith
Inc., Easton, from 1927 until retiring in 1973.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Harvey and Nellie
Meixsell.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving with his wife is a sister, Mrs. Tillie Willauer
of Palmer Township.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ashton Funeral Home,
14th and Northampton streets, Easton. The calling period is
7-8:30 p.m. Monday.
