Mrs. Sarah K. Yard Mattes,
Mrs. Sarah Kern Yard Mattes, 79 years old, widow of Harry Stecker
Mattes, died last evening at 8 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William L. White Jr., 803 West Lafayette
street, after an illness of four months.
Mrs. Mattes was born in Easton on Jan 19, 1860, and was a
duaghter of the late Lafayette and Mary Heckman Yard. She resided
in this city all her life and was a member of Trinity Episcopal
Chruch, Her husband, who was freight agent for the Lehigh Valley
Railroad, this city, died 19 years ago.
She is survived by one son, Lewis Yard Mattes, of Los Angeles,
Cal; one daughter, Mrs. Bertha M. White, wife of William L.
White Jr., this city, and nine grandchildren. |
