Lewis Y. Mattes, 70, Native of Easton
Lewis Yard Mattes, 70, native and one-time resident of Eaton,
died last Wendesday at his home, 256 North LaPeer Drive, Beverly
Hills, Calif.
Mr. MNattes left Easton 52 years ago and since then had resided
in California. He was graduated from Leland Stanford University
and many years was a petroleum engineer. He is a former president
of the Estado Petroeum Corporation.
Mr. Mattes was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herry Mattes.
His father for many years was freight agent for the Lehigh
Valley Railroad in Easton. The family resided at 14th and Washington
Streets, this city.
Survivng are his wife, Lillian; three duaghters, Miss Barry
Mattes, Mrs. Deedie Clauke and Mrs. Pat Bishop; three sons,
John, Harry and Richard, and two grandchldren.
Mrs. Pat Bishop is married to Ronald Bishop, son of Arthur
U. Bishop, another former Eastonian. |
