Services for “Jack “ Lehr At Family’s Convenience
Services and interment for John H. “Jack” Lehr, 50, of 512 Porter St., Easton, will be held at the convenience of the family.

President of Brown and Williams Co., Easton insurance and bonding specialists, he was dead on arrival at Easton Hospital yesterday morning. He was driving down College Avenue and was apparently stricken before his car crashed into the old Dundee Building at the foot of the incline and N. 3rd Street.

An autopsy was schedule today to determine cause of death. Mr. Lehr underwent open-heart surgery a year ago. He was hospitalized several weeks ago for a short time.

Mr. Lehr was vice president of the Class of 1944, Easton High School A star fullback on the 1942 and 1943 teams, he was a second team nominee for the Pennsylvania All-Star team. He was chosen as the Rover’s most valuable player in 1943.

During World War II, he was a third class petty officer in the Navy.

Recipient of a Bachelor of Science degree in administrative engineering, he was president of the Class of 1950 at Lafayette College. Last June he was chairman for the class, 25th reunion of the largest reunion class in the college’s history.

His grandfather, Horace Lehr and Clinton Hilliard were 1887 and 1974 graduated respectively of the college. His father, Horace A. Lehr Jr., was graduated in 1915.

A graduate of Roval-Glove Insurance Companies Agent’s School, New York City, Mr. Lehr received advanced training in surety bond in New York City and Philadelphia. He was a specialist in surety bonds for contractors.

In 1970 he participated in management seminar in Chicago sponsored by CAN Insurance Co. for members of the Professional Agents Council.

Before becoming a partner in Brown and Williams in 1967, he was an engineer and pollution specialist for several years at Fuller co., Catasauqua.

At the time of his death, he was vice president of Easton Professional Building Corp. owners and operator of an office building at the southeast corner of Second and Bushkill streets.

Mr. Lehr was active in the United Fund and Red Cross Campaigns. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Downtown Improvement Group, Pomfret Club and National Insurance Agencies.

A native of Easton, he was a son of the late Horace A. Lehr Jr. and Marie Louise Hilliard Lehr.

Survivors include a sister Mrs. Marie Louise Newcomb, Clinton, Conn.
