Frederick H. Laubach Jr., 72, executive of store in Easton
Frederick H. Laubach Jr., 72 advertising manager of the former
William Laubach & Sons department store in Easton, died
last night in Buckingham Valley Nursing Center, Pineville,
Bucks County, PA.
He had been ill for the last several years. In late December
he was hospitalized. He lived at 844 Paxinosa Ave., Easton.
Affectionately known as "Fritz",: he was active
in community affairs, especially with the Merchants Association.
He was its chairman in 1945 under the structure of the then
Easton Board of Trade.
Grandson of the founder of the store, he was born in Easton
on Aug 11, 1905, son of Frederick H. Laubach Sr., now of
Bal-Harbour, Fla., and the late Zelda Wilhelm Laubach.
He attended Easton High School, was a member of the Class
of 1927 at Lafayette College and attended the University
of Pennsylvania. In 1957 he was honored by the Lafayette
Class of 1927 for his untiring work as president and reunion
chairman, receiving a gold watch.
He was instrumental in the Christmas lighting program in
downtown Easton in the early 1940s.
His wife the former Harriet Stewart, died on Jan. 28, They
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last October.
Mr. Laubach was a member of the First United Church of Christ.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Harriet L. Pickel, Wrightstown, Pa., and Mrs. Avis L.
Turner, Lynnfield, Mass.; a son, Frederic H. III of Wooster,
Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth West, State College,
PA., and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in First
UCC, Easton. Private interment will be held in Easton Cemetery.
Arrangements are in charge of the Shillinger Funeral Home,
Easton.
