Retired Official, Ingersoll-Rand, Dies in Hospital
Frank E. Kutz, 71, formerly of 514 McCartney street, Easton a retired official of Ingersoll-Rand Company and who has been living since his retirement August 31, 1944 at the Rochester, N.Y. died at the Strong Memorial Hospital, that city, Sunday afternoon at 1:15 o’clock. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday, April 9.

Mr. Kutz was born in Easton January 20, 1874 and was a son of the late Irwin J. and Fayette Kutz. He was graduated from the Easton High School in 1891, after which he worked for the Michler Grocery Company, North third street for a few months. Then for one year he as with the Central Railroad of New Jersey in Phillipsburg. Another year was spent in the law offices of Kirkpatrick and Kirkpatrick and then in 1893. While the Easton shops of Ingersoll Sergeant Drill were being built he went to New York and worked at the company shops at Ninth Avenue and Twenty-Seventh Street.

When the new Easton shops were finished, he returned here as secretary to the general manger, George R. Elder, during the 51 years that have since elapses, Mr. Kutz had always taken a prominent part in the affairs of the company ,and for many years held the position of plant secretary. He held executive positions and was closely associated with the Lopatcong Water Company, Phillipsburg Development Corporation and Compressed Air Magazine Company. He also was a director of the Easton National Bank.

M.r Kutz resigned from Ingersoll-Rand Company, August 31, 1944, when he was presented with a scroll containing the signatures of hundreds of his friends and associated in the Phillipsburg and new York offices of the company, P.J. Bently, general manger who made the presentation speech, paid him a fine tribute for his record of outstanding service. Among the services which he enumerated was his work in the management of the Ingersoll Sergeant Mutual Benefit Association which was organized in 1893 and operated since then by the employees. He was a life member of the Kiwanis club, of Easton.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Ashton Kutz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Ashton, of this city, by one daughter, Mrs. J. Stewart Zahniser, Rochester, N.Y; two grandchildren, Luanne and rank E. Zahniser, Rochester; one sister, Mrs. Edward Thompson, and four brothers, George Edgar, Charles Thomas, Robert Lerch and Sheldon John Kutz, all of this city.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Shillinger Funeral Parlors 801 Lehigh Street, this city . Interment will be in Easton Cemetery
