Kenneth W. Kreitz, 94, of Riegelsville, Pa, died on Monday, October 27, 2008 in the Easton Nursing Center.

Born: On January 18, 1914 in Raubsville, Pa, he was a son of the late Arthur and Emma Brotzman Kreitz.

Personal: His wife, Mary, died in 2004. For 30 years, he had worked as an auto mechanic for Chet Flagler's Garage in Raubsville. Later, after moving to California, he worked as a self-employed medical transcriber for about ten years. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Pennsylvania.

He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving in World War II in the First Marine Division, where he participated in the Battle of Okinawa and the Invasion of Peleliu. He also served in Korea, earning many awards for his service in the Marin Corps. He was the oldest veteran in Riegelsville.

He was a 1932 graduate of Easton High School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Memberships: He was a member of the Riegelsville Fire Company and of Post #950, American Legion. He was a Mason, a member of Prosperity Lodge #567, Riegelsville, and served on the Riegelsville Borough Council and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors: He is survived by one son, ***** of Saylorsburg, Pa; two daughters, ***** of Pittsburg, Pa, and ***** of St. Louis, Missouri; one step-daughter, **** of Gilbert, Arizona; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and his loving companion, Libby Scherer.

In addition to his wife, Mary, several brothers and sisters also died earlier.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, Riegelsville. Friends may call on Saturday after 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Riegelsville Union Cemetery. Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to the Riegelsville Fire Company, Riegelsville, PA 18077.
