Charles J. Knecht
Charles J. Knecht, 72, a native of Bath, died this morning
in st. Lu8ke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. He resided at
1624 maple St., Bethlehem.
Mr. Knecht was a formerly employed at the Bethlehem Steel
Co. He retired three years ago.
Born Dec. 28, 18856 he was a son of the late William and Mary
A. Bauer Knecht.
He was a member of Zion United church of Christ, Bethlehem.
Surviving are his widow, the former Mary A. Bartholomew; two
sons, Charles L. and Frederick C. both of Bethlehem; six daughters,
Edith, wife of Amos Hummel, Slatington R.D1; Marie, wife of
Wilbert Johnson; Hellertown; Hazel, wife of James Breisch,
Allen Park, Mich,; ****&, wife of *****, San
Carolos, Calif,; *****, wife of *****, Hellertown R.
D2 and Ruth, wife of Vernon Schappell, Kingston, N.Y. a brother,
Lloyd, Bethlehem; a sister, Mrs. James Plattengerger, Bath;
32 grandchildren and 120 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs.
Hilda Mantz, died before him.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Steyers
funeral Home, Bethlehem. |
