John H. Kline, Retired Easton Banker, Dies
Easton Trust Officer Was Leader In Tall Cedars Of Lebanon
John H. Kline, 67, former vice president of the Easton Trust Co. and former supreme treasurer of the Supreme Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, died at 2:45 a.m. today at the Causa Convalescent Home, Easton. He was in ill health three years. His home was at 43 N. 10th St.

Mr. Kline retired in 1958, He was associated with the Easton Trust Co., now the Easton National Bank & Trust Co., for 43 years. He started as a messenger with the bank. He was elected vice president in 1957.

He was re-elected to his eighth straight one-year tem as supreme treasurer of the Supreme Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, in May 1954. He served as its grad tall cedar in 1929, served o the supreme forest finance committee from 1941 until his election as treasurer.’
Born on Oct 31, 1893, in Easton, he was a son of the late Jacob and Laura Miller Kline. He was a lifelong resident of Easton. He was a graduate of Lerch’s Preparatory School.

Mr. Kline was a member of Lehigh Consistory, Dallas Lodge 396, F&AM, Easton; Rajah Temple, Reading; Easton Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Bethlehem Shrine Club, Pomfret Club, Easton, and the Northampton County Bankers Association. He also was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his widow, the former Mabel B. Smith; two daughters, Eleanor, wife of Harry Cooley, Cleveland, Ohio, and Ruth, wife of William Nixon, of Birmingham, Mich; a sister, Sarah, wife of Lester Allshouse, Newark, N.J., and five granddaughters.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.
