years and had five sons and four daughters. Died of Rheumatism
and consumpton, age 73 years.

In the name of God Amen, I Philip Kline of Sussex County,
State of New West Jersey being weak and infirm of body, but
of sound memory and understanding, blessed be God for it, do
make ordain and constitute this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following.
That is to say, I first recommend my soul to God, who gave
it, Joyfully waiting my resurrections when I shall see God
with mine own eyes and none other, and as to the worldly possession
with which it has pleased God to bless me. I give and bequeath
in manner and form following.
First it is my will and desire that my funeral charges and
all my just debts be first and fully paid.
Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my son Godfrey Kline the
place he now liveth on with all and everything that is thereunto
in anyway appertaining which place or plantation it is my will
and desire shall be immediately after my deceased valued and
appraised and if my Son Godfrey as above mentioned shall refuse
to take land or plantation at the price it shall be valued
at, it shall then be in the power of my executor or executors
and it is my will that they ?? said premises to sales, as soon
as it conveniently can be done, and if my son Godfrey should
on the other hand take to himself and hold said Premises state
at the valuation as above mentions, it is my Will and desire
that my wife Mary be provided for out of said valuation by
said Godfrey keeping or reserving in his hand three hundred
pounds for her support and maintenance. During her natural
life. That principle three hundred pounds to be kept entire
as long as possible for the benefit of the Survivors. And if
it should so happen that my Executor should sell the Premises,
then and in such case the Executor to keep or reserve in his
hands three hundred pounds above mention for the support of
said Mary my wife until her decease, which sum of three hundred
pounds or any part thereof on her deceased to be divided with
all other residues and remainders as with be hereafter mentioned.
It is my will that the three hundred pounds so reserved for
my wife Mary in said Godfrey's hands, said Godrey to give security
for said sum of money whenever called on by my executor and
it is my desire that the interest of said money may maintain
or support Mary my said wife except necessary or any unforeseen
accident may oblige the said Godfrey to break in on the Principal
for the necessary support of said Mary. It is my will that
so soon as ever my wife Mary after my decease shall take a
husband, then and in that case, her support provide for her
by this my will cease immediately.
Secondly I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Kline a certain
Plantation or tract of land joining the Straw Tavern and on
which he now liveth expressly on condition that the said Jacob
Immediately pay unto Godfrey Kline Sen fifty Pounds and the
interest due to said Godfrey on Bond. The place to be as soon
as can be valued after my deceased and if said Jacob's hand
hold said Place on conditions above specified and take it at
the appraisement then the said jacob to be allowed two years
from my decease for the discharging all legacies that may be
demanded of him by virtue of this will lend of on the other
hand my son Jacob refused to take that land on conditions,
said Land to be sold by my executor and the said Jacob have
Liberty to stay one year on said premises paying the usual
rent and no more than one year after my deceased. The monies
?? from sale of said land to be divided as will be after mentioned.
Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catharine Miller
and her children by her former husband Christopher Ensley,
namely Phillip, Christopher, John and Godfrey;. Mary Lena,
Mary and Rachel a certain parcel of land adjoining ? Tomer
and Godfrey Kline, Jun and on which Milton Gardner now liveth
to be equally divided among them on condition they or any of
them pay my executor the reminder of the money due on the Purchase
thereof with the interest due thereon.
Lastly it is my will and desires that all monies that shall
arise from the sale of said lands and estates real and personal
all residues and remainder whatever may and shall be equally
divided among my children in form following Namely Jacob, Godfrey,
John my sons each of them have two shares out of my estates
both real and personal, my daughters Catherine, Lena and Margaret
each of them on full share of all my Estates Produce, This
my will that my daughter Charity Patterson be paid ten shilling
and no more as the share I give her of my Estate. It is my
desire that my Grand Children Jacob, William and children of
my daughter Charity and William Patterson be each of them paid
five pounds of which sums are to be paid them not before the
decease of my wife Mary and after her decease as they arrive
to the age of twenty one years. I give moreover unto my grandson
John Patterson a house and lot containing about on acre adjoining
to said plantation one which my son Jacob now Liveth. This
my will that if my son Godfrey and Jacob hold the lands above
mentioned on the conditions before specified, in that case
they shall have two years from my decease to pay off and discharge
all legacies left by virtue of this instrument each of them
giving bonds and security if required for every and all sums
of money that may arise from the sale of all and every estate
real and personal ordering which and all other conditions specified
in this my last will and testament any land John Kline whom
I now appoint and constitute my whole and sole executor to
this my will, has full power and it is my desire that he grant
and make them good and sufficient and lawful deed for the above
premises and both and each of them to secure it to them and
their heirs for ever in confirmation therefore of this my last
will and testament made this seven tenth day of June Anno Domini
one thousand seven hundred and eighty four 1794, I have here
unto my hand and seal.
