Elmer Kleckner Jr., Works Manager of C. K. Williams
Elmer E. Kleckner, Jr., 83, formerly of 360 Taylor Ave., Easton, died last night in Easton Hospital.
Born in Easton on Aug. 21, 1896 he was a son of the late Elmer E. Sr. and May Sandt Kleckner.
He retired in 1961 as works manager of the former C.K. Williams Co., Easton, now Pfizer Inc., after 47 years of service. He joined the company in 1914, beginning as a timekeeper. He served as a foreman in the shipping department and assistant superintendent. He served as general manager of the Easton, Slatington and Warren Ohio, Plants.
A past president of the Easton Area Industrial Management Club, he was national president of the industrial Management Club in 1954. In that year he was honored as its “Man of the Club.” Its first suck recognition. He served as president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Industrial Management council and in 1961 the State organization gave hi a special certificate of recognition of his long service.
He was active in campaigns of Easton Hospital, the YMCA and YWCA and the United Fund.
He was elected a director of the Easton YMCA in 1956 and named acting general secretary in 1963. He was a member of the state YMCA industrial committee and was secretary of its industrial leadership group.
A musician of note, he was reelected to a second term in 1970 as chief patriarch of the Valley Union Encampment No. 138, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
In 1970 he received a 50-year pin form the Dallas Lodge No. 396, F&AM, Easton.
He was a member of the Easton Chapter No. 173, Royal Arch Masons; The Pomp Council No. 21, Royal and Select Masters; the Hugh DePayens Commandery; the Grace United Church of Christ, Easton; the Lehigh Consistory, Allentown; the Rajah Temple, Reading, pa.,; the Forks of the Delaware Shrine Club; the Confident Lodge I.O.O>F, no.1133; the MORA club of Easton; the Tall Cedars of Lebanon; the West Easton athletic Association; the Patriotic Order Sons of America: the Aluta Lodge IOOF, Allentown; the Bushkill Encampment; the Pennsylvania Free Masons, and the Keystone Lodge. He was a former secretary of the Easton-Riegelsville Sectional Committee of the Lehigh Consistory and former president of the Easton-Phillipsburg foreman’s Club.
His wife, the former Gertrude Masters, died in February 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter Myers, Harmony; a son, Paul R. of Palmer Township, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Clements Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be in Easton Heights Cemetery
