Jane Kiefer Leary, 95, of Bardonia, N.Y., formerly of Easton, died Saturday, July 20, in Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Joseph Leary III.
A 1926 graduate of Tusculum College, Greeneville, Tenn., she was a librarian in the Kirby Government and Law Library at Lafayette College from 1949 until retiring in 1963. Before that she was a journalist and schoolteacher.
Born in Raubsville, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Cora Kiefer.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Easton.
She was a member of the Delaware River Canal Historical project, the Williams Township Historical Society, the New Jersey Poetry Society and the Adrian Club at Lafayette College.
Leary authored many articles relating to historical and environmental issues. Many of her poems and stories, including "A Child's Christmas in Raubsville" reflected the rural life of her childhood.
Survivors: Daughters, *****, with whom she resided, ***** of Napa, Calif., and ***** of Wynnewood, Montgomery County; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday in the church. Arrangements, Joseph Sorce Funeral Home, West Nyack, N.Y.
