Funeral of Asa E. Kiefer
The funeral of Asa E. Kiefer, 88, who died on Tuesday at the home of is son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Spangler, 2435 South 21st street, Philadelphia, was held at noon today in the Sechler & Maguire Building, 1953 North Broad street, that city.

The body was brought to this city this afternoon and services were conducted at the Snyder Funeral Home, 131 North Third Street, at 3 o'clock by the Rev. Charles Rahn, pastor of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson. Interment was in the Easton Heights Cemetery.

Mr. Kiefer was the oldest living graduate of Freeland Seminary, Collegeville, Pa., the site now occupied by Ursinus College. For many years he was engaged in the manufacture of lace in Scranton and was associated with the Scranton Lace Works. He served two terms as amember of common council in Scranton and was county auditor of Lackawanna County in 1900.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marilla Kiefer Spangler, wife of Dr. Spangler. Since his retirement he had made his home with Dr. and Mrs. Spangler.
