Kenneth R. Jones, 49, of 1909 Hay Terrace, Wilson, a journeyman
machinist was stricken fatally about 4:50 P.M. yesterday
while at work at the Dixie Cup Division of American Can Co.
Fred L. Ashton, deputy Northampton County coroner, said death
apparently was caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Jones was employed by Dixie for 18 years. He served in
World War II with an Artillery unit of the 43 Infantry Division
in the Philippine Islands and the South Pacific. He was discharged
as a technical sergeant.
Mr. Jones was born in Easton on February 16, 1911, a son of
Harry E. Jones, also of the Hay Terrace address, and the late
Laura Roseberry Jones.
He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Local 412,
United Papermakers and Paperworkers Union.
Surviving in addition to his father, are his widow, the former
Frances E. Paulus; a daughter, at home; three sisters,
Alma, wife of James Spencer, Huntington W. VA.; Beatrice, wife
of Dr. Edward J. Schaffer, Worthington, PA., and Mae, wife
of Edward Appleman, of Easton.
The funeral will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at the Strunk Funeral
Home, Easton. |
