Dr. William K. Harlan Jr., 74, of Plainfield Township, died
Sunday, March 11, in Easton Hospital. He was the husband of
the late Kathryn (Sandwick) Harlan.
He was in private practice in the fields of hematology and
medical oncology from 1961 until 1994 in Wilson and in Palmer
Township. He was attending staff and chief of staff for the
hematology-medical oncology division at Easton Hospital, 1961-92.
He was emeritus associate in charge of the division at Easton
Hospital, 1992-94. He was a clinical instructor at Hahnemann
Hospital, 1978-94, and was on the consulting staff at Warren
Hospital in its hematology-medical oncology division, 1961-90.
He was on the Warren Hospital medical department courtesy staff,
1990-94.
He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Lehigh
University and received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical
College. He served his internship at Easton Hospital and his
residency at Easton Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania
Graduate School of Medicine. He had a fellowship at Presbyterian
Hospital, Philadelphia.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the
American Medical Association.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific
Theatre.
Survivors: Son, David W. of Laceyville, Wyoming County; daughters,
Deborah Harlan-Bennet of Oxford, England, Brenda H. Miller
of Pittsburgh, Beth K. Duckworth of Palmer Township; nine grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Strunk Funeral Home, 2101 Northampton
