Dr. Charles Gold, Retired Dentist, In Bangor, Dies
Ex-School Director, 78, Once was Principal At Pen Argyl
Dr. Charles E. Gold, 78, retired Bangor dentist, former principal of Pen Argyl High School and a one-time school director in Bangor, died last night at 8:45 o’clock at his home, 222 Market Street, Bangor.
Dr. Gold retired about a year ago after practicing dentistry in Bangor for 49 years.
Before entering the dental profession, he was a school teacher. In addition to serving as principal of Pen Argyl High School for several years, he taught at East Bangor School.
He was an honorary member of the Pennsylvania Dental Society, and earlier this year the society presented a certificate I recognition of his 50 years of association with the profession.
Born in Ackermanville, he was a son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Young Gold. He was a lifelong resident of the Slate Belt.
Dr. Gold was graduate from Pen Argyl High School, Kutztown State teachers College, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Reformed Church, a director and treasurer of the Bangor Co-Operative Building and Loan Association, and a member of Pen Argyl Lodge 594, F. and A. M.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Speer, and a brother, Floyd, of Ackermanville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Hough funeral home, Bangor. The Rev. John C. Brumbach, pastor of St. John’s church will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Pen Argyl. |
