Martin Frey, court crier for fifteen years past, died at the home of his son, Harry Frey, on Washington Street, this city, at 1 o’clock this afternoon in his seventy-third year. Deceased was stricken with apoplexy on Thursday evening and did not regain consciousness. He attended to his duties at the court house on Monday last. He was crier and librarian and as such gave complete satisfaction Of late his declining years told on him and the stentorian voice of old became very much modulated and it was noticed that time had shattered his frame. Martin Frey was born in Upper Mt. Bethel, but had resided in this city from early boyhood. He carried on a general store business at Third and Spring Garden streets for many years. He was always an ardent Democrat and held many offices, the gift of the party. He was clerk of the court of quarter sessions for some years, and also served as deputy county treasurer. He also served as a member of the Easton borough council. His wife preceded him to the grave in 1888 and is survived by these children. Charles H. Frey, Edward A. Frey, Mrs. Jacob Sandt, Mrs. O. F. Reinhard, and Harry C. Frey, of Easton; Mrs. J. F. George, of Hecktown; Mrs. William H. Frederick, of Bethlehem, Deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity.
