Robert Englebeck

Robert "Bob" Englebeck, 86, of Port Clinton, died Wednesday at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
He was born in Port Clinton to Harry and Maud (Hineline) Englebeck. Bob was a 1935 graduate of Port Clinton High School and attended Ohio University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. On Nov. 6, 1955, in Port Clinton, he married JoAnn (McRitchie) Englebeck and she survives.
Bob was the owner/operator, since 1940, of the Englebeck Packing Co., Port Clinton, for 60 years until his retirement. He also was a lifetime farmer working on the family farm. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton.
Bob was president of Englebeck Packing Co. He was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and past commodore in 1953. At the Port Clinton Yacht Club he won the Shark Trophy in 1981 for Skipper of the Year and in 1982 he won the Oliver True Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Service. He also was a member of the Catawba Island Club where he won the Stouffer Cup in 1989. Bob was a charter member of Elks Lodge 1718 in Port Clinton, a 50 year plus member of the Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge 341 F.&A.M., a member of the Colonial Club, West Bay Hunting Club, past president of the Tiffin Livestock Association, former member of Duck's Unlimited and a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau. Bob was an avid hunter, golfer, and Ohio State Buckeye Fan. He loved sports and playing cards. He was a sailor for enjoyment and also raced in competitions, winning several trophies. Bob also enjoyed sailing DN class ice boats.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn Englebeck of Port Clinton; daughter ****of Canal Winchester; brothers-in-law *****of East Tawas, Mich., and ****** of Port Clinton; sisters-in-law ***** and ******, both of Port Clinton; several nieces and nephews; and grandpup Sandie. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia (Englebeck) Bracken, brother-in-law George McRitchie and sister-in-law Jean McRitchie Sauvey.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Gerner-Wolf-Brossia-Marsh Funeral Home, Port Clinton, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Judith Armbrust officiating. |
