LEONARD DUNBAR, 43; WAS SPORTS ACTIVIST
Leonard M. Dunbar, 43, of 2491 Front St., Avona Heights, Wilson,
died Saturday in his home. Northampton County Coroner Joseph
Reichel attributed death to natural causes.
Dunbar was the husband of the former Cathrea Misero.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Easton, for 13 years,
retiring in 1980. Following his retirement, he was an equipment
manager for the Wilson School District athletic department
and a salesman for Hobby Hangout, Palmer Township. Before joining
the post office, he worked for the state highway department
for several years.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Allen M. and Helen
(Steckel) Dunbar.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Easton.
He served on the Wilson Recreation Board for many years and
was an official in football, baseball and wrestling for District
11 of the PIAA for 21 years.
Dunbar was a past president of the Wilson Midget Football
Association, the Wilson Boro Band Boosters, the Wilson Varsity
Club and the Avona PTA. He also coached football and was an
organizer and past grand marshall of the Wilson Halloween parade.
Surviving with his widow are a son, and a daughter, both
at home, and a brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral
Home, 14th and Northampton streets, Easton. Calling hours will
be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.
