Lewis Dicker, 17, Injured in Crash, Dies in Hospital
Stewartsville Youth Was Phillipsburg High Band Member
Lewis Dicker 17 years old, so of Mr. And Mrs. Henry Dicker
of Stewartsville, died this afternoon in the Warren Hospital,
Phillipsburg, the result of injuries suffered last Saturday
afternoon in a collision with the automobile in which he was
riding and a motor truck in lower South Main Street.
Dicker suffered a severe injury to his head, and he also suffered
other body injuries.
In the automobile with Dicker at the time of the accident,
were Wardell Buss, 17, of Shimer Manor, Richard Cook 16, and
Joseph Hulshizer of Stewartsville.
They were less seriously injured although Hulshizer and Buss
remain as patients in the Warren Hospital.
The four boys were members of the Phillipsburg High School
Band and were on their way, according to local officials, to
meet another member of the band, when their automobile was
in Collision with a truck of the E.B Line Auto Transfer, Phillipsburg,
driven by Henry Williams of Phillipsburg.
In Junior Class
Young Dicker was a member of the junior class of Phillipsburg
High School. He played a clarinet in the band.
Immediately following the accident, Chief of police Theodore
Booth, Policeman Ralph Br? and members of the Emergency Squad
arrived on the scene and the four boys were taken to the Warren
Hospital.
From the time he was admitted the conditions of Dicker was
to be serious. Cook who suffered abrasions, was discharge yesterday.
Buss suffered a possible fracture of the jaw, abrasions and
lacerations, while Hulshizer suffered a fracture of the left
femur.
Dicker is survived by his parents and maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Minnie Florey, of Stewartsville. He attended the Stewartsville
Presbyterian Church and Sunday School. |
