Harvey Deiley, Ex-circulation chief at Express
Harvey C. J. Deily, 80, of Bethlehem Township, Pa., formerly of Easton, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Ann H. Flores of New Tripoli, pa.
He was circulation manager for The Express for 12 years and an employee for 27 years.
He joined the Express in 1929 as a clerk in the circulation department. He left in 1944 as assistant circulation manager.
From 1944 to 1962 he was a partner in a supermarket in South Whitehall Township, Pa., the former Deiley’s Westgate market.
He also had spent a year in the real estate business before he was asked to return to The Express as circulation manager in 1963. He retired from The Express on June 30, 1975.
He was a real estate agent for Bealer and Jacowitz Realty Co in Easton, and then was Realtor with John Monaghan Realtors of Allentown, retiring in 1989.
He was president of the Allentown Lions’ Club in 1958, and a past president of the Allentown Baseball Booster Club.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown.
Born in Glendon, Pa., he was a son of the late Milton C. and Esther Nolf Deiley.
His first wife, the former Charlotte M. Thomas, died earlier.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Vera Burley Tinsman of Bethlehem Township, with whom he celebrated a 19th wedding anniversary in October.
Surviving in addition to his wife and daughter are son, ****. of Doylestown, Pa., a brother, **** of Easton; two sisters, **** of Allentown and **** of Annandale, Va.; a stepson, ***** of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, ***** of Easton; his Stepmother Verna Deiley of Wind Gap, pa; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church in Allentown. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Allentown. Arrangements are by Trexler Funeral Home, Inc. in Allentown. |
