Oliver S. Brugler
Oliver S. Brugler, 89, of Columbia, N.J., died Wednesday in Warren Hospital where he had been a patient the past three and half months.
He was a farmer all of his life and also was employed by Todds Shipyards of new York City until retiring in 1963.
Born March 6, 1895,in Knowlton Township, Warren County, he was a son of the late Frank and Laura Uhler Brugler.
Mr. Brugler was a member of the Knowlton United Methodist church and Blairstown Lodge 165, F&AM, where he received his 500-year pin several years ago. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10600, Blairstown, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Warren Forest 14, Phillipsburg.
During World War I. he served with the 107th field artillery of the 28th Division of the U.S. Army in France.
In 1979 he was honored by the new Jersey Agricultural Society for farming land that his family had worked on for the past 200 years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Viola Shotwell; a son; ***** of Columbia; a daughter, *****, Budd Lake, N.J; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Sprague, Philadelphia; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Reed Funeral Home, Johnsonville. Interment will be in Hainesburg Cemetery. |
