Samuel E. Sloyer Dies
Allen - Samuel E. Sloyer, a retired farmer who had lived most of his li fe in the Allen community, died Sunday morning in Newman Memorial Hospita l, Emporia.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Allen Methodist Churc h, conducted by the Rev. Donald Oblander, Gridley, a former pastor of t he Allen Church and Rev. Edwin Curtis, pastor. Graveside services in All en Cemetery will be conducted by Allen Masonic Lodge No. 335. Roberts-Blue -Barnett Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sloyer, the last of a family of 10 children of Frank F. and Henrietta Frankinfield Sloyer, was born Oct. 9th, 1883, in Bucks County, near Tol edo, Ohio. He married Viva E. Bates on April 8th, 1906, and she died Au g. 12th, 1940. Surviving are three children, Melvin E. Sloyer, and Mrs. H .P. (Doris) Blankenship, Topeka, and Mrs. Roy (Maude) Schiesser, Alle n; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in dea th was one son, Gerald. |
