William Minteer, Duncan township Survivors, Dies
Aledo, Ill., Feb. 8 -- William Minteer, prominent Duncan Township farmer and for several years a memberof the Mercer county board of superviso9rs, was found dead yesterday evening about 6 o'clock in the barn lot at his farm home. The body was discovered by Will hones who is employed on the Minteeer farm, and it is beleived that Mr. Minteer had been dead for over two hours.
A coroner's jury conducted an inquest under the directio of Dr. V.A. McCalahan and jound that death was due to heart attack. According to members of the family mr. Minteer had been suffereing from heart trouble since an illness of influenza, early in December.
Mr. Minteeer was elected as supervisor from Duncan township in April, 1920, and had been a meber of tghe board continuously since that time. He has served on many of the important committees and also as chairman of the board.
His present term of fifce would have expreied in April this year.
The decendent was born in Duncan township, April 9, 1866 and had spent his entire olife in the community. On June 25, 1888 he married Miss Henrietta Beggs who preceded him in death 30 years.
On Feb. 7, 1914 he married Miss Ruth burgess of Aledo, who survives with the following children by the first marriagel; Mrs. John Ramsen, Lyle, Earnest all of Aleco; Mrs. Daisy Swain of Muscatine and Mrs. Virgil Struble of Duncan Township. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Elza Garmer of Eliza, Mrs. Mary Pearson of Edington, Mrs. Edward Gritton of Joy and Mrs. Charles Brown of Peculiar, Mo., and one brother, Charles Minteer of Millersburg. |
