Cheston, 78, of Nazareth, formerly of Easton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at Moravian Hall Square. Born Sept. 27, 1941, in Wilson Borough, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Cheston Jr. and the late Genevieve (Hess) Cheston. Jeanne was a 1959 graduate of Easton High School and received her bachelor's in 1963 and master's in 1966 from Kutztown State College. She retired in 1993 from the Easton Area School District, where she was an elementary school teacher at the former Porter School from 1963 to 1971 and Palmer Elementary School from 1971 to 1993 teaching fifth and sixth grades. Jeanne had a great love of teaching, traveling, her labs and beagles, and the Marx Room at Easton Public Library where she added many volumes to the collection. Jeanne was a member of New Creation United Church of Christ and a member of the former St. Peter's U.C.C. and Faith Unity U.C.C., where she served on the first consistory. She was a member of the Northampton County Historical Society and Friend of the Easton Area Public Library. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hay's Cemetery, 704 Packer St., Easton. The Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Easton, is in charge of arrangements.
