Robert C. Steckel, 81, of Easton, Pa, formerly of Riegelsville,
Pa and Milford, NJ, died on Thursday, November 3, 2005 in
Easton Hospital. Born: On August 4, 1924 in Easton, he was
a son of the late John and Rachael Bunning Steckel. Personal:
His wife, the former Pearl E. Mengel, died in 1991. He was
last employed as a supervisor in the wax division of the
Milford, New Jersey Mill of the Riegel Paper Corp. Robert
was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman
traveling yearly to Wisconsin to catch the big one. Memberships:
He was a member of Post #950, American Legion, Riegelsville,
Pa. Robert was a life member of the Pioneer Athletic Association,
Easton, Pa. He was a charter member of the Riegelsville Emergency
Squad. Survivors: He is survived by a daughter, Joy A. Barndt
and her husband, Michael of Lehighton, Pa; a sister, Shirley
Chilli of Huntington Valley, Pa; two granddaughters; and
one great-granddaughter. A sister, Jennie Parker, died earlier.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
in the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, 327 Easton Road, Riegelsville,
Pa. Friends may call on Tuesday after 6 p.m. in the funeral
home. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's
Diseases and Related Disorders, 617 Main Street, Hellertown,
PA 18055.
