Township Man Reported Missing Now listed Dead
Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Steckel, of Easton R.D. 4 have received
the following telegram from the War Department:
"The secretary of War desires that I tender this deep
sympathy to you in the loss of your son, Cpl. Howard E. Steckel,
Jr., who was previously reported missing in action. Reports
now received state that he was killing in action July 11, 1943,
in Sicily. Letter Follows"
Cpl. Steckel enlisted in the Army Jan. 7, 1941, and received
basic training at Fort Devens, Mass., and at Camp Blanding,
Fla. He had been overseas since June, 1942, with an infantry
division. |
