Morning Call Jun 23, 1987

Claude D. "Jim" Steckel, 83, of 525 Fisher Ave., Phillipsburg, died Saturday in Warren Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn (Frankenfield) Steckel. They would have observed their 66th wedding anniversary yesterday.

Steckel worked for Steckel Sand Co., founded by his father, the late Charles C. Steckel, for most of his life before retiring in 1973.

Born in Easton, he also was a son of the late Irene (Day) Steckel.

Surviving with his widow are a son, a daughter, six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday (today) in the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman St., Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. Tuesday until services.
