Herbert B. Smith, Retired Knitter
Herbert B. Smith, 69, Lower Belfast, Nazareth, R.D3, died about
4 p.m. yesterday at his home. He was ill about a year with
a heart condition.
Mr. Smith resided in Lower Belfast for the last 15 years.
He formerly lived in Wilson.
Mr. Smith was employed as a knitter at the Chipman Knitting
Mills for 42 years before the company went out of business.
Born aug. 29, 1890 in Ross Township, Monroe county, he was
a on of the late Israel and Emma Meixsell Smith.
He was a 50-year member of Nazareth Lodge 445, P.O.S of A.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his widow, the former Mary A. Fulmer, four daughters,
Kathryn, wife of Robert J. Miller, Wilson, *****, wife of
*****, Bethlehem Township; Evelyn, wife o N. Alvin
Salter, Emmaus and *****, Wife of *****. Levittown
N.Y.; a stepsister, Mrs. Florence Metz, Nazareth; two step
brothers, Harry Cawley, Allentown, and George Cawley, East
Hartford, Conn., and two grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the F.W. Schmidt
Mortuary, Nazareth. |
