Former Martin’s Creek Man Dies on Coast
J. Calvin Shimer, a former resident of Martin’s Creek, died on Wednesday while on a visit to the home of his son, Chester at Orosi, Cal. He was 82years old. Deceased was a retired farmer and lived in the vicinity of Martin’s Creek most of his life. About 12 years ago after the death of his wife he started to make home with his sons and daughters, He had been in California a short time when he was taken ill and died.
He is survived by the following children: A Burton Shimer, M.D., of Atlantic City, N.J.; Dr. Hervey Shimer, of Hingham, Mass; Mrs. W.E. Craig, of Wheeling. W.Va.; Mrs. Ralph Felton of Ithaca, N.Y. and Chester Shimer, of Orosi, Cal. He also leaves one brother, William Shimer of 165 Ann Street, Easton.
The body will be taken to Martin’s Creek for burial. The remains are scheduled to arrive on Friday and interment will be made in the family plot in the Martin’s Creek cemetery. |
