Notes:
August C. "Gus" Sherrer, 79, of Phillipsburg,
NJ, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Warren Hospital surrounded
by his family. Born: In Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late
Calvin and Catherine Wendland Sherrer. Personal: He and his wife,
the former *****, were married 55 years last September.
He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1947.
He enjoyed reading, especially about the Civil War. He was
a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, the State Liners, and of his
German heritage. August worked at Dixie Cup, Wilson Borough,
for 45 years, retiring in 1991. Memberships: He was active
in Boy Scouting in the Minsi Trail District as a Scout Leader.
He was a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans. He was a Red
Cross first aid instructor and volunteered with Suburban Emergency
Medical Services for 15 years. He was a member of the Stateline
CB Radio Club, and was a volunteer with Musikfest for many
years. He was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg
for most of his life and had served on the church council and
as an usher. In recent years, he was a member of Trinity Episcopal
Church in Easton. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Lois,
he is survived by two daughters, three sons, 10 grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren; also an aunt, and
her daughter. A brother, Paul, died
earlier. Services: Will be on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Trinity Episcopal
Church, Easton, Pa. Friends are invited to call on Monday from
6 to 7 p.m. at the church, 234 Spring Garden Street, Easton. Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Suburban
Emergeny Medical Services, 3231 Freemansburg Avenue, Easton, Pa;
or to the charity of one's choice.
