Robert G. Rapp Sr.

Robert G. Rapp Sr., 88, of Palmer Township, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in Manor Care, Palmer Township. Born: December 2, 1915, in Easton, a son of the late W. Earl and Nellie Garis Rapp.

Personal: He and his wife, the former Helena Buckley, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last October. Robert had served in the Navy during World War II. He was an office manager for Easton Buick for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1933, where he had been class president from 1932, and he also graduated from Churchman's Business School. Robert was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Memberships: He was a member of First United Church of Christ in Easton, where he was past president of the Consistory, chairman of the building fund of the parish hall, an elder and a former deacon. He was a former member of the Easton School Board, the National Association of Accountants, American Legion Post 9 in Palmer and the Fearless Fire Co. No. 14 in Allentown.


Survivors: his wife; a son, Robert Gary Jr. and his wife, Mae, of Williams Township; a daughter, Andrea R. Barrus and her husband, William, of Charlestown, R.I.; a sister, Elsie Odheimer of Stamford, Conn; four grandchildren, Hillary and Deanna Barrus, Kerri Tolan and Rebecca Burmeister; and two great-grandchildren, Keeghan and Cora Tolan. A brother, Renton, died earlier.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday in the church, 27 N. Third Street, Easton. Call 1 p.m. to time of service Monday in the church. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, is in charge of arrangements.
