Michael R. Miller, EAHS Grid Star, Car Crash Victim
A former Easton Area High School football standout, died Saturday morning in the Holmes Regional Hospital, Melbourne Fla., after an auto accident in Merritt Island, Fla.

Michael R. Miller, 24, of 205 Palmer ST., Easton, was driving east on State Road 520 at 2:30 a.m. when a westbound auto driven by Robert H. Marshall of Rockledge, Fla., crossed into the eastbound lane and struck Miller’s Auto skidded off the road and rolled over once, throwing Miller and a passenger Richard Harman, his nephew, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., from the vehicle.

Trooper A. J. Jones of Florida Highway Patrol said the patrol doesn’t know why Marshall’s auto crossed into the eastbound lane.

Harman and Marshall both were hospitalized at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

Mr. Miller was in Florida visiting his sister, ***** of Cocoa Beach, Hartman’s mother. He was looking for a job in the state.

He was a former salesman for Commercial Photocopy Co., Allentown, and former salesman at the Proving Ground, Lehigh Valley Mall. He had worked as a bartender at the Club Mohican Easton.

Born in Wilson on Jan 28, 1955, he was a son of Mrs. Kathryn B. Terleski Miller, now of Easton and the late Paul H. Miller, former sargeant in the Easton Police Department.

He was a 1973 graduate of Easton Area High School where he was quarterback of the football team for three years and team captain. He was also captain of the baseball team and played basketball. He was also a quarterback at Shull Junior High School.

He attended North Caroline State University for 3 ½ years and was a defensive back on the football teams. He played in Liberty, Blue Bonnet and Peach bowls.

Upon returning to Easton, he attended Northampton County Area Community College where he was a member of the tennis team.

He was a member of the Order of the Fleas, Easton.

Surviving in addition to his mother and his sister, are a brother, *****, Forks Township and another sister, *****, Palmer Township.

Services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be Hay’s Cemetery, Easton.
