Harry C. Miller, Retired Mail Carrier, Dies
Was in Employ of U. S. Postal Service for 44 years.
Harry C. Miller, 70 years old, of 1324 Washington Street, a
retired mail carrier at the Easton post office, died on Saturday
evening at 9:45 at the Easton Hospital, after an illness of
one week. He was admitted to the hospital on June 13 for medical
treatment.
He was born in Easton on May 17, 1873, a son of the late Jacob
and Sophia Miller, and lived here all his life. He entered
the postal service as a substitute carrier here on Dec 1, 1899
and became a regular carried on March 1, 1905. He was retired
on May 31, 1939. He served altogether 39 years and was well
known in this vicinity.
Mr. Miller is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha S. Miller;
two children, Herman W., Wilson Borough and Mrs. Esther C.
Weider living at home, and by two grandchildren.
He was a ember of Easton Local, National Associaton of Letter
Carriers; Camp 407, P. O. S. of A and Zion Lutheran church
this city. |
