Herbert Maginnis -- born in Bangor
Herbert Maginnis, formerly of Washington, died Sunday Aug. 8, in the Reading Hospital in Reading, Pa. He retired in 1985 after 25 years in his business, Maginnis Electric Co., in Reading.
Born Nov. 17, 1924, in Bangor, he was a son of the late Herbert and Anna Shook Maginnis Sr.
He served in the Navy as an electrician in the Pacific during World War II. He was a 1942 graduate in Washington. He was a member of Zion (Spies) Lutheran Church in Oley, Pa. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Lodge 549 in Reading.
He is survived by his wife, the former Valerie L. Smith; a daughter, a son, a brother, Ted of Washington; a sister, Thelma of Phillipsburg; and six grandchildren. A brother, Lawrence, and a sister, Alethea, died earlier.
Burial was in the Laureldale Cemetery in Laureldale, Pa. The David R. Christ Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley, was in charge of arrangements. |
